Mo­ti­va­ti­on and Chal­len­ges

Our cust­o­m­er, the IT ser­vice pro­vi­der of a lea­ding in­ter­na­tio­nal re­tail com­pa­ny, re­co­gni­zed the po­ten­ti­al of di­gi­tiza­t­i­on qui­te ear­ly and built up a web shop bey­ond drugs­to­res. Ba­ckend sys­tems were set up quick­ly, wi­thout pri­or re­qui­re­ments ana­ly­sis. Over time, the ad­van­ta­ges of the TIBCO Busi­ness-Works (BW) in­te­gra­ti­on plat­form be­ca­me cle­ar and it was also in­tro­du­ced. The par­al­lel ope­ra­ti­on of two plat­forms led to an in­co­he­rent sys­tem en­vi­ron­ment and high li­cen­se fees. New de­ve­lop­ments could only be im­ple­men­ted slow­ly. In ad­di­ti­on, the web shop po­sed chal­len­ges due to faul­ty or­de­ring pro­ces­ses, slug­gish pro­ces­ses and a lack of re­s­pon­sive de­sign.

The Solution

Requirements Engineering

It began with an inventory and analysis of the current requirements process situation in the area of Enterprise Application Integration (EAI). Based on this, an RE process was developed and implemented for the entire life cycle of a requirement. In addition, agile procedures have been established.

Integration and Migration

Business processes of the legacy system WTX were migrated to the TIBCO integration platform under continuous support and monitoring and on the basis of the developed specifications. In addition, new features have been implemented in TIBCO ESB. The approach to the software development process was systematic, with strong process and service orientation as well as agile methods. Services and their interfaces were identified. The design, architecture and implementation of the system were realized on basis of the EAI platform, in compliance with QM / QI specifications.

Web and Mobile

UX experts developed a cross-platform solution for browsers and web apps in Responsive Design. This replaces previous manual ordering processes and enables customers to send digital messages directly from their stores to their customers as part of omnichannel marketing. The developed frontend is based on a microservices architecture and replaces the originally monolithic structures.

The optimized Requirements Engineering (RE) process tailored to the customer and the automation of process flows resulted in seamlessly integrated and high-performance systems that can be executed across platforms. By using TIBCO's software, the customer's EAI architecture was further developed. The BW Designer Tool facilitates the integration and maintainability of the systems and minimizes development risks. Process and service orientation offer a foundation that allows easy adaptability and expansion options. In addition to savings in operating and licensing costs, accelerated time to market was achieved.
